Our Mandate

Conducting detailed research to uncover the root causes and impacts of climate change on conflicts.
Delivering timely analyses to inform policymakers, humanitarian actors, and other stakeholders.
Advocating for inclusive, gender-sensitive approaches to resilience-building and peace initiatives.
Developing practical frameworks that integrate climate resilience into local, national, and regional agendas.
Promoting early warning systems to detect emerging risks and enable preventive actions.
Raising awareness and fostering knowledge-sharing on the intersection of climate change and conflict.

Our Impact

Since our inception, CeCCA has:

Built a strong foundation of data and knowledge on climate-induced conflicts across Kenya.
Supported local institutions in enhancing their capacity for conflict prevention and resilience building.
Developed innovative early warning tools to track and respond to emerging climate-related risks.
Collaborated with regional and international partners to integrate climate resilience into peace and development agendas.

A Network for Change

CeCCA’s efforts are deeply rooted in collaboration. By bringing together diverse stakeholders—from government entities to civil society organizations—we create a unified front against the challenges posed by climate change. Our network spans local, national, and regional dimensions, ensuring that our initiatives are holistic and impactful.

As part of a broader national effort, CeCCA draws inspiration from and contributes to global and regional frameworks addressing the nexus of climate and conflict. By aligning with the African Union’s principles of coordination, subsidiarity, and coherence, we strive to set benchmarks for data-driven, inclusive solutions.

Research and Analysis

Through in-depth studies, research and analysis, we provide data-driven insights into the complex dynamics between climate change and conflict, equipping stakeholders with the knowledge to drive effective interventions.

Capacity Building and Advocacy

Through training programs and advocacy efforts, we empower communities, governments, and organizations to address climate-induced conflicts sustainably and inclusively.

Policy Development

Working closely with governments, NGOs, and international bodies, we contribute to the formulation of policies that integrate climate and conflict considerations at every level.

Early Warning Systems

Our Early Warning Systems leverage data and technology to detect emerging conflicts and climate threats, thereby providing early alerts and reports, enabling proactive response and resilience-building.

Awareness and Knowledge Sharing

We create platforms for dialogue, learning, and collaboration among researchers, policymakers, and the public to promote shared understanding and collective action.

Climate Mitigation Measures

We encourage and promote the use of renewable energy sources solar and windpower and effecient energy use practice in households and business.
